Walkabout/Talkabouts: KAW Council holds monthly walkabout/talkabouts: a chance to take a walk with old and new friends, exploring a particular place in our watershed and learning more about the other-than-human species among us. We also enjoy a potluck meal together, and often shares stories on a topic of interest related to the earth and sky. You are welcome to attend either or both the walkabout and talkabout on any of these dates. Great events for people of all ages.

img_0240March 17-19: Sandhill Crane Trip to Grand Island, Nebraska: Following our exhilarating trip to see the sandhill cranes last March, KAW Council is offering another such trip. While we saw thousands of cranes near Kearney last year, we hear there are more to see on the Platte River near Hastings, NE. This year, we will also offer a sandhill crane writing and art workshop with a view toward the cranes during the weekend trip. We will be reserving a block of hotel rooms in Hastings (details coming) and organizing private dinners for our group at nearby restaurants Fri. and Sat. nights for the group, plus tips and carpooling to key places to see the cranes at sunrise and sunset, and carpooling to Hastings. The trip will start late afternoon on Fri., 3/17, and end Sunday morning after seeing the birds again. Participants pay for their own hotel and meals, but the fellowship and fun together is free! Great for all ages too. For details, email
