Walkabout/Talkabouts: KAW Council holds monthly walkabout/talkabouts: a chance to take a walk with old and new friends, exploring a particular place in our watershed and learning more about the other-than-human species among us. We also enjoy a potluck meal together, and often shares stories on a topic of interest related to the earth and sky. You are welcome to attend either or both the walkabout and talkabout on any of these dates. Great events for people of all ages.

Sunday, Dec. 3, 4 p.m. Walkabout/Talkabout: Greeting the Season with Gumption and Grace. It’s a hard season for many of us — the holidays can bring up all kinds of old stories and hard moments, and our season as a country is especially difficult to face these days. Come to a lovely afternoon of walking native prairie, perhaps scurrying up to Wells Overlook Park to see the larger view from the tower, then enjoy a potluck and discussion about how we find gumption and grace in these times. We meet at Ken & Caryn’s house at 1357 N. 1000 Rd., Lawrence, KS (directions: take Iowa St. south 3 miles from 31st and Iowa; turn left — you have to go right under the overpass to go left — and continue for 1/2 mile. Turn right into drive, and take west fork back. Wells Overlook is the first drive past our ours). Walkabout at 4 p.m./ potluck at 5:30 p.m. Children of all ages welcome.

Sunday, Jan. 7, 4 p.m. Walkabout/Talkabout: Annual Favorite Book Gala. Come walk, and/or join us for a potluck and discussion about our favorite book or books we’ve encountered over the last year.
